The Compliance Officer position is available in more than one location - Rapid City SD or Lincoln NE. When applying please indicate the desired location when completing the online application form.

Role:

The BSA Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act Compliance program. Analyzes new and pending laws that could directly affect the Bank's current practices. Develop and revise current policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Ensures all affected areas of the Bank are kept informed of changing laws and procedures for implementation to be completed at the appropriate time.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Performs various quality control reviews and monitoring in the area of BSA, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and Customer Identification Program compliance using industry standard and regulatory guidance sampling methods.
  • Analyzes new and pending laws which will affect the Bank's current operations, develops and periodically reviews and updates the policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the applicable federal and state laws and regulations, notifies all affected parties of changes and the new procedures adopted.
  • Responsible for managing the Banks BSA compliance programs. Monitors compliance with BSA rules and regulations.
  • Reviews reports associated with BSA. Investigate cases produced by BSA software, decides on further action if appropriate.
  • Coordinates projects that involve information disclosure and policy changes to inform staff of procedures that must be complied with.
  • Advises the Director of Compliance of emerging compliance issues and consults and guides the Bank in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Management:

  • Develop, maintain, and demonstrate current knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and industry regulations to ensure the Bank's policies and procedures remain compliant and are adhered to in all areas.
  • Ensure departments and staff are informed of new or revised policies or regulations affecting their compliance within the required time frame as set down by management.
  • Develop and maintain a library of compliance resources to enable employees to educate themselves in relevant areas.
  • Prepare and deliver assigned reports in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the bank or any department.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer and internal inquiries in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Provide informed, professional, accurate service and support to all customers and associates.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education and/or Experience.

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five to eight years' compliance or related experience required.
  • Solid knowledge of audit procedures, government regulations, banking and EDP procedures; a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Demonstrated management, supervisory, and organizational abilities; strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

Interpersonal Skills.

  • The ability to motivate, influence or persuade others is a material or major part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust.
  • Must be able to develop innovative solutions and must be attentive to details.
  • Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
  • Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.

While performing this job the employee would occasionally be required to carry loads up to and including 24lbs. It is frequently necessary to bend, squat, reach above the shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance and push/pull equipment. Firm grasping/fine manipulation with the right/left hand is necessary. In an 8-hour day, the employee can expect to sit about 6 hours.
